On Friday I was in Phoenix to do a television interview with Dr. Bauman on a show called Sonoran Living Live on ABC15. I was nervous but excited. It was fun and the crew and host of the show were extremely nice. In retrospect it is interesting to think that before this surgery I would never dream of going in public without my makeup on, out of fear of embarrassment of what I looked like. Now anybody that has seen Good Morning America, Sonoran Living, or this web site can see my before pictures. I feel okay about it though, I hope it helps others with the same condition find courage to seek treatment, and educate those who don't. The segment itself was only 4 1/2 minutes...hardly enough time to talk about trichotillomania and the benefits of the eyelash transplant surgery. (I think a whole show could be done on the subject.)
After the show, Dr. Bauman trimmed my lashes for the first time--I think they're growing already! I am home now and am through the second week of the healing process. I have a sty developing on both my eyelids, but I was prepared for them. Dr. Bauman told me that it is common. Warm compresses make them feel better. Overall I am still in total awe of the eyelashes I still have (not too much shedding of the lashes yet).
